In September 2024, the state of California passed Senate Bill 1266, a landmark law that bans all bisphenol chemicals in baby bottles, pacifiers, teething toys, and other infant feeding products. This includes not only the widely known BPA, but also lesser-known compounds like BPS. The law, which takes effect on January 1, 2026, is one of the most comprehensive regulatory moves toward chemical safety in baby products to date.
For parents, this is more than a policy change — it’s a reminder that safety standards are evolving, and not all products on the market are keeping up. For years, “BPA-free” labels have been the gold standard in baby product safety. But what many don’t realize is that most products labeled as BPA-free are only tested for BPA — not for its common substitutes like BPS, which studies suggest may pose similar health risks, including hormonal disruption and negative impacts on infant brain development.
At BORRN, we’ve always believed that safety shouldn’t be partial. That’s why our products are not just BPA-free — they are also free from BPS, and we actively test to confirm it. We partner with third-party labs to conduct full bisphenol testing, going beyond the minimum regulatory requirements to ensure every product we make is as safe as it claims to be. While many brands continue to rely on material claims alone, few can offer the same level of testing transparency that we do — and we’re proud of that.
We’re happy to share our latest BPS testing report.
